Meritas (education)
Meritas is a family of for-profit college-preparatory schools that provides personalized education to more than 11,000 students across the globe. Meritas schools have more than 300 years of collective and proven experience and have educated more than 50,000 students. The ten schools within the Meritas family span three continents, and each has its own unique character while remaining rooted in the organization’s shared goals and opportunities. It is owned by Sterling Capital Partners, a private equity company.

Founded in 2005 by Jonathan McCoy (Mac) Gamse,〔http://www.bloomberg.com/profiles/people/17692261-jonathan-mccoy-gamse〕 Meritas has purchased multiple schools worldwide. Its first acquisition, in 2005, was North Broward Preparatory School, in Coconut Creek, Florida.〔http://www.nbps.org/school/history〕 Collège du Léman, located in Geneva, Switzerland was the next school to join the Meritas family in 2006.〔http://www.bizjournals.com/southflorida/stories/2006/01/30/story5.html?page=all〕
As of April 27th, 2015, Meritas has sold several of their acquired schools to Nord Anglia Education (NAE) including, North Broward Prep, Collège du Léman, Léman International, The Village School, Windermere Prep, Instituto San Roberto.
